MG worked with Canfor in Prince George to provide options, the estimated cost, and the detailed engineering for the installation of a new alum delivery system.
Canfor was interested in improving the existing alum delivery system. Alum is a viscous fluid that is prone to scaling along the inside of a pipe. The new system was selected and designed to reduce the amount of scaling in the pipe and provide the required flow to the process. For this project, MG presented Canfor with an evaluation of two potential piping systems. Upon Canfor’s selection, MG provided an AACE Class 5 estimate. Upon the completion of the estimate and the approval of the project, MG provided detail engineering design for the successful execution of the system.
The new system is a pressurized recirculation loop with a short teflon-lined branch to the process. MG provided the design of orifice plate and piping and was able to reuse the existing pump. The electrical and instrumentation for this project was completed by others.
